Call for abstracts – VAST annual conference

Abstract submission is now open for the 2023 Vascular Training Platform (VAST) annual conference, which will take place in Montreal on May 17-18.

The VAST Conference will be comprised of a mix of research talks, educational sessions, and networking opportunities. We look forward to workshops/panels on different career paths, engaging and working with people with lived experience, and translating knowledge to the public. Portions of the conference will be available for live online streaming. We invite submissions for abstracts related to vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia. Supervision by a VAST mentor is not required for submission but is a requirement to receive travel funding from VAST.

The conference will be paired with a Lipidomics/MRI workshop led by Dr. Miroslava Cuperlovic-Culf, Dr. Steffany Bennett, Dr. Eric Smith and VAST trainee Thao Nguyen held in Ottawa May 15-16th 2023 (9 AM – 5 PM). Registration for this workshop is limited. The Lipidomics/MRI workshop will provide theoretical and hands-on training in data preparation and analytics lipidomics and MRI voxel correlation networks. Participants will be provided an intensive crash course in background information about the methods used for data preprocessing going from instrument output to quantified molecular concentrations, as well as training in the range of machine learning and network analyses tools directly applied to MRI and lipidomics data. The workshop will ask ‘Is there a specific relation between the circulating lipidome in plasma with voxel intensity in cortical brain regions of patients with cerebral small vessel disease?’ Trainees will learn how to combine data obtained using LC-ESI-MS/MS and MRI.

Abstract submissions should be sent to vast@ucalgary.ca by February 15th 2023 using the submission form.
