Dr. Julien Doyon (McGill) and Dr. Julie Carrier (University of Montreal) are seeking to hire a full-time Research Assistant who will work on a behavioral, sleep electroencephalography (EEG) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) project funded by the Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) McGill interdisciplinary initiative. The overall goal of the HBHL program is to improve the lives of Canadians by advancing understanding of how the brain functions in health and disease. As part of this initiative, we will conduct a series of studies using behavioral testing, neuroimaging and noninvasive brain stimulation techniques during either day- or night-time sleep, to understand the underlying mechanisms of how short-term and long-term memories are formed, and to develop ways to enhance memories in healthy adults, as well as to remediate memory functions in neurological patients.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Contact and screen potential participants;
• Obtaining informed consent from participants who fulfill the inclusion/exclusion criteria;
• Setting up the experimental equipment for behavioral and EEG testing;
• Conducting the actual behavioral, EEG and MRI experiments;
• Accompanying participants for the MRI sessions.

Minimum qualifications and requirements:
• Master’s Degree in Neuroscience or related fields;
• Experience working with EEG;
• Good French proficiency (oral communication) – bilingual French/English – an asset;
• Available to work at different times of days, when needed, within the 35 hours/week workload (e.g. there will be cases where EEG will be recorded during the night sleep in the sleep lab);
• A good understanding of the scientific method and the scientific process.
Assets:
• Previous work experience in Neuroscience or related field;
• Experience with standardized testing of human subjects;
• Other technical skills.

Knowledge and experience with sleep EEG (data acquisition and basic analysis) is mandatory for this position; fMRI proficiency is optional, but desirable. However, candidates who, in addition to EEG, have knowledge and experience with fMRI software (e.g. SPM, FSL, etc.), as well as basic proficiency in a programming language such as Matlab, Python, etc. will be given priority.

Salary will be commensurate with the education level and experience.
