Become a member

Any researcher or clinician working in the field of bio-imaging at a Quebec institution can become a member of QBIN. Members are eligible to apply for our various funding programs and are invited to participate in our Annual Scientific Day and other events.

Prospective members should contact Martine Dallaire (rbiq@usherbrooke.ca). There are no fees associated with QBIN membership.

Membership categories

Regular and regular-clinician member: A regular member is an independent investigator (a regular-clinician holds a recognized clinical degree) (as defined by the FRQS) at a Quebec institution, actively engaged in bio-imaging research. They hold grants from recognized organizations, contribute to graduate student training, and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Regular members have direct access to financial support programs put forward by QBIN.

Regular emerging and regular-clinician emerging member: An emerging regular member is a newly appointed investigator at a Quebec institution, actively engaged in bio-imaging research, who largely meets the criteria for regular membership. Regular emerging members have direct access to financial support programs put forward by QBIN. This status is valid for 2 years, after which the emerging member can become a full regular member of QBIN if they meet all criteria.

Associate member: An associate member is interested in the activities of QBIN but does not necessarily have graduate students, postdoctoral fellows or the full profile of an independent researcher. They must join a regular researcher to benefit, as a collaborator, from any form of financial support.

Research personnel: Research personnel (highly qualified personnel – HQP) recognized in the field of bio-imaging (e.g. technologist, engineer, computer scientist, etc.) and attached to a QBIN regular researcher’s team are eligible to become a research personnel member of the network. They must join a regular researcher to benefit, as a collaborator, from any form of financial support.

Postdoctoral fellows: Postdoctoral fellows whose primary supervisor is a regular member of QBIN are eligible to become postdoctoral members of the network. Postdoctoral members are eligible to apply for the network’s funding programs for trainees. This status is valid for 3 years, after which the postdoctoral member will become an alumni member, unless they are eligible to renew or change their membership status.

Graduate students: Graduate students and research training residents whose primary supervisor is a regular member of QBIN are eligible to become student members of the network. Student members are eligible to apply for the network’s funding programs for trainees. This status is valid for 5 years for PhD students or 2 years for Master’s students, after which the student member will become an alumni member, unless they are eligible to renew or change their membership status.

Alumni members: Alumni members are postdoctoral and student members whose membership status has expired. Alumni members are not eligible for financial support from the network.
