Conference allowance

Student and postdoc members of QBIN are eligible to apply for a conference allowance to present their research in the field of bio-imaging at national or international conferences. Conference allowances will be awarded at random, and at most two applications per lab/principal supervisor per year will be granted.

Eligibility criteria:

  • The applicant must be a student or postdoc member of QBIN
  • The applicant’s supervisor must be a regular member of QBIN
  • The applicant must have an abstract acceptance for the conference that is related to or makes use of a bio-imaging technique

The allowance can cover airfare, accommodation and meal expenses, and registration fees, and will be in the form of a reimbursement paid after the conference has taken place (you can apply for the allowance in advance for planning purposes, but no advance payments will be made). It is mandatory to provide original receipts and proof of payment for the expenses. You must also provide proof of registration and a copy of your conference abstract.

The maximum annual allocation per applicant is $500 CAD. You can receive a travel allowance from QBIN even if you have additional financial support for the same conference from another organization (i.e. accumulation of funds is allowed, as long as each expense is only reimbursed once).

For the current application cycle, the conference must take place before August 31, 2024 and the supporting documents to receive a reimbursement must be submitted by September 10, 2024.
