An inspiring model for his research colleagues, Maxime Descoteaux is an imaging specialist with international standing. As the holder of the Research Chair in Neuroinformatics, he works on the reconstruction of images and the wiring properties of nerve fibers in the white matter of the brain. The innovative nature of its research and its intersectoral collaborations are among the distinctive aspects of its achievements.

With the computer algorithms and mathematical models he developed, he converted an existing imaging technique into a true Google Street View of the brain. These images can be used to better understand neurodegenerative diseases and to optimize neurosurgical planning. These tools are also offered to the pharmaceutical industry for the development of drugs to treat brain diseases.
