Desired profile
The candidates will have a strong background in medical imaging, particularly positron emission tomography (PET) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), with a research program linked to preclinical and/or clinical imaging in one of the following fields: Cardiovascular disease, Neurological disease or cancer. Experience in artificial intelligence and/or image analysis will be positively evaluated.

About the Department
The Department of Nuclear Medicine and Radiobiology was founded in 1968. It is composed of thirty professors, several of which are closely associated with the Sherbrooke Molecular Imaging Center and most of which are members of the Medical Imaging Axis of the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke (CRCHUS). The Department includes two clinical services, that of Nuclear Medicine and that of Radiation Oncology with 16 clinician professors. In addition, the
Department hosts a large team of highly qualified personnel to support research, the production of radioisotopes, of radiotracers, of contrast agents, animal care, project management and image analysis.
We offer an exceptional multidisciplinary research environment with access to preclinical imaging (PET, MRI, optical) and clinical imaging (PET, MRI) and to two cyclotrons for the production of radioisotopes. This equipment and that of numerous other technological platforms combined with the expertise of physicists, chemists, biologists, engineers, imaging scientists and specialized physicians make of our Department a fertile ground for the development of novel approaches in Imaging, Radiobiology and Radiation Therapy. Structured and sustained mentorship will be provided to the candidate selected in order to ensure their success.
Duties
- Develop a competitive research program in Medical Imaging funded by external grants.
- Supervise graduate students, medical residents and postdoctoral fellows.
- Develop close teaching and research collaborations with clinical researchers.
- Develop and/or teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses
- Contribute to University life.
Requirements
- Hold a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) and postdoctoral experience in medical imaging or the equivalent.
- Have an excellent publication record.
- Have experience in teaching/training of students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership, innovation and communication skills.
- Develop close collaborations with clinicians.
- Possess a working knowledge of French, and if not, agree to learn French. Laboratory activities can be in English.
- To be able to abide to the requirements in line with the responsible behavior of research.
Work conditions
Work conditions are set by an agreement between Université de Sherbrooke and the Association des professeures et professeurs de la Faculté de médecine de l’Université de Sherbrooke (APPFMUS).
Regular, full-time tenure-track position.
